If the cables are stiff or if individual wires on the cable are obviously broken, the entire clutch cable should be replaced.
Never lubricate PTFE slides subsequently, as lubricants lead to swelling of the sliding material and thus have exactly the opposite effect.
Inner PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) self-lubricating sliding sleeve.
