Setting new standards for alpine climbing and technical mountaineering, the newly developed Ortles Master Cord offers a high breaking strength of more than 15 kN with high UV resistance at a low weight. Its hybrid construction uses ultra-high molecular weight (UHMW) polyethylene in the core – a material lighter and stronger than both steel and Kevlar – and robust polyamide to make the protective sheath. The combination gives exceptional strength and excellent knowability. The Master Cord 60-metre coil is ideal for use in a wide range of situations, including making prusik loops, creating anchors and abseil rigs, and threading slings and hourglasses.
